The Hudson River Fellowship artist residency will be once be returning to Jackson, N.H. this July. Lauren Sansaricq and I will be teaching a workshop alongside the fellowship. This will probably be my last workshop for 2015. The details are below.
Erik Koeppel "Autumn Clouds Over Mt. Adams" 9 x 16 inches Oil on panel |
Techniques of the Hudson River School with Erik Koeppel & Lauren Sansaricq
July 9 - 14, 2015 (6 instructed days. Instructors alternate days)
$775 ($387.50/deposit)
Location: Jackson, NH in the White Mountain National Forest
Limit: 12 artists
Please see our recommended accomodations on the main page for housing.
Regardless of your level of experience our goal as
instructors will be to provide you with a thorough introduction to
traditional landscape painting. In this workshop we will attempt to
place ourselves in the mindset of the great American Landscape Painters
of the 19th Century. By painting in locations actually
portrayed by the Hudson River School, we will discover a deeper
understanding of how these artists approached the challenge of rendering
the landscape before them.Although we encourage painting, students wishing to learn landscape drawing for the entire ten days are welcome. We will address the following: compositional sketching, light and atmosphere in grisaille, outdoor painting in color. (See attached PDF for full course desctription and Supply List)
The instructors will alternate teaching days.
