Hudson River Fellowship and Workshop in Jackson, NH 2014

Erik Koeppel "The Presidential Range in Autumn" 22 x 36 in. Oil on canvas
For the past three years the Hudson River Fellowship, an artist residency through the Grand Central Academy of Art, has been held in Jackson, NH to give young artists working in a traditional manner of landscape painting the opportunity to work outside in a beautiful place and learn from professionals in this field such as myself. Lauren Sansaricq, and I have been teaching alongside the fellowship, as well as Tom Kegler, and Ken Salaz. You may like to learn more about the Hudson River Fellowship on the Grand Central Academy's website: http://grandcentralatelier.org/hudson-river-fellowship.php

We are now two weeks into the fellowship, so here are some pictures of what's happened so far:

Renowned 19th c.White Mt. Art Collector, Andy Mclane and I gave a lecture on his collection.

Andy spoke about the history, and subject matter of the paintings, and I discussed the artistry, and took questions on the techniques and philosophy of the 19th Cent. White Mountain School.

At The Jackson Historical Society we viewed their beautiful Museum collection of White Mountain Art, and discussed their 3D map of the region, to find painting spots.

Pres. of the Jackson Historical Society, Warren Schoemaker, and his wife Leslie kindly hosted the fellows for a sunset dinner at their home (with it's astounding vista view!)

Well we're having a great time, and I'll post more photos of paintings created on the Hudson River Fellowship soon.

Here is the next (and probably only) opportunity to study with me in 2014, at a workshop in Washington State:

See images of the area and more information on this website: www.hoodscanalart.org
