Sorry for the hiatus while Lauren and I were moving our studio to Jackson, NH in the beautiful White Mountains. New address info is on my website
www.erikkoeppel.com
Here are some great historic paintings of the White Mts.:
Albert Bierstadt, Mt. Chocorua from Conway, NH | | |
Asher B. Durand, Mt. Washington from Intervale, NH |
Albert Bierstadt, Moat Mts. with Cathedral and White Horse Ledges |
Sanford Gifford, Mt. Washington |
Thomas Cole, Crawford Notch |
....and all these spots are within 30min of my new studio! I'm going to be having workshops here next summer, and also the
Hudson River Fellowship will be held here hosted by the
Grand Central Academy, and the
Jackson Historical Society.
Here's one of my paintings from a similar spot to the above Durand painting:
Erik Koeppel, Mt. Washington from Intervale, NH, 24 x 34 inches, oil on panel |
Thanks for reading!
Congratulations Erik! I am sure it will be productive and inspiring location for you.
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this, Albert Bierstadt is a great American artist and I find his American West landscape breathtaking. My favorite painting is the Yosemite Valley the Yosemite Valley but I also like the Buffalo series.
My first post...the Albert Bierstadt, Moat Mts. with Cathedral and White Horse Ledges is an all time favorite. I have often wanted to stand in that exact spot and have a look! Spent many a day hanging on to Cathedral trying various routes. Beautiful capture above! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThanks Douglas, I've been looking for that exact spot myself. This spot http://www.erikkoeppel.blogspot.com/2012/01/white-mountain-winter-landscape.html is a little to the south, and there are some great views a little to the north from off of rt. 16A. I haven't found the exact view yet, and hope it isn't grown over!
