NYC 2 Person Show at The Union League Club

Kindred Spirits:
The Paintings of Lauren Sansaricq
And Erik Koeppel

At The Union League Club
38 E 37th St, New York, NY 10016

February 2nd to 29th, 2016
Opening Reception Feb. 2nd, 6 – 8 pm

Erik Koeppel (b.1980) and Lauren Sansaricq (b.1990) met in the summer of 2009 while painting beneath the famous Kaaterskill Falls in New York’s Catskill Mountains. Since then, the couple has become leaders in a movement of young artists working to revive traditional landscape painting techniques, particularly those of the Hudson River School, America’s first great artistic movement. As Kindred Spirits of artistic vision, Lauren and Erik have traveled together across the United States and abroad, painting glorious landscapes in the humble and honest manner of their forefathers. It should be noted however, that these works are not copies from arts illustrious past, but in fact represent a new movement of revival of our nations past artistic ideals. Both artists adamantly believe that the underlying philosophy of celebrating the glory of nature is an urgently needed voice in today’s culture. This assertion has been well proven by the extensive success both artists have found nationwide, in the form of awards, publications, exhibitions, and collectability. The public has been further amazed to learn that these artists create their work by the traditional process of drawing and sketching outdoors in nature, and without the use of photography.

It is thus with great pleasure that the Art Committee presents Kindred Spirits an exhibition of recent paintings by Lauren Sansaricq and Erik Koeppel. The exhibition will include a broad array of subjects, from the South of France, to the Rocky Mountains, to the pastures of the Hudson Valley where American Landscape Painting was born. We welcome you to take a break from the hustle and bustle of city life, and allow your mind to rest in the peaceful ideal nature contained within these paintings.

For more information please contact Beth Harrington, beth@ebhart.com

The exhibition will include an extensive selection of works in all sizes from Lauren and I. Here is a sampling:

Erik Koeppel "Mt. Washington in Autumn" 16 x 27 inches. oil on canvas

Erik Koeppel "Old Growth Hemlock" 11 x 5.5 inches, oil on panel

Erik Koeppel "Sunset at Gettysburg" 12 x 22 inches, oil on canvas

...and much more at the show. Remember, the reception is open to the public, but the Union League Club is a private club, so you'll have to make an appointment to view the exhibition after the reception during the month of February. Also note that the Clubs dress code prohibits blue jeans....:)
