Weds. I'll be on TV, Boston WCVB-TV (ABC channel 5)

Erik Koeppel "Mount Washington" 26 x 44 in Oil on canvas
I was recently interviewed at my studio, by a reporter from WCVB-TV in Boston.
I don't watch TV very much, but will try to catch the program Wednesday (7/30/14) at 7:30.
My understanding is that it's Channel 5, or UHF digital Channel 20.

Once it's been on the air, I'll try to find a way to post it here. If anyone is able to record it...please share with me!

Thank you!

Hudson River Fellowship and Workshop in Jackson, NH 2014

Erik Koeppel "The Presidential Range in Autumn" 22 x 36 in. Oil on canvas
For the past three years the Hudson River Fellowship, an artist residency through the Grand Central Academy of Art, has been held in Jackson, NH to give young artists working in a traditional manner of landscape painting the opportunity to work outside in a beautiful place and learn from professionals in this field such as myself. Lauren Sansaricq, and I have been teaching alongside the fellowship, as well as Tom Kegler, and Ken Salaz. You may like to learn more about the Hudson River Fellowship on the Grand Central Academy's website: http://grandcentralatelier.org/hudson-river-fellowship.php

We are now two weeks into the fellowship, so here are some pictures of what's happened so far:

Renowned 19th c.White Mt. Art Collector, Andy Mclane and I gave a lecture on his collection.

Andy spoke about the history, and subject matter of the paintings, and I discussed the artistry, and took questions on the techniques and philosophy of the 19th Cent. White Mountain School.

At The Jackson Historical Society we viewed their beautiful Museum collection of White Mountain Art, and discussed their 3D map of the region, to find painting spots.

Pres. of the Jackson Historical Society, Warren Schoemaker, and his wife Leslie kindly hosted the fellows for a sunset dinner at their home (with it's astounding vista view!)

Well we're having a great time, and I'll post more photos of paintings created on the Hudson River Fellowship soon.

Here is the next (and probably only) opportunity to study with me in 2014, at a workshop in Washington State:

Paintings of the Adirondacks

Erik Koeppel "the Wilmington Flume" 43 x 41 Oil on Canvas Available at McColl Fine Art

I had a great time painting at the Publisher's Invitational Paint Out in the Adirondacks. Where I stayed at Paul Smith's College with about 100 other artists, painting the beautiful Adirondack scenery. The above painting was done in the studio following the same event three years ago.

Here are some of the new outdoor studies that were made on the trip:

Erik Koeppel "High Falls, Adirondacks" 16 x 12 in. Oil on panel

Erik Koeppel "Clouds Over Whiteface" 10 x 16 in. Oil on panel

Erik Koeppel "Farm in the Adirondacks" 6 x 12 in. Oil on panel

Erik Koeppel "Study of Clouds Over Whiteface" 5 x 9 in. Oil on panel

Erik Koeppel "Farm in the Adirondacks" 8 x 16 in. Oil on panel

Erik Koeppel :"Study of Birches" 6 x9 in. Oil on panel

Erik Koeppel "Pool in the Adirondacks" 12 x 10 in. Oil on panel
I look forward to reworking some of these in the studio and making larger paintings based on some of these scenes.

Here are some previous Adirondack pictures:

Erik Koeppel "Fishermen in the Adirondacks" 20 x 30 in. Oil on Canvas Private Collection

Erik Koeppel "Artist at the Wilmington Flume" 12 x 16 in.Oil on panel, Private Collection

Erik Koeppel "Hemlock Study" 16 x 12 in Oil on panel

Erik Koeppel "High Water in the Wilmington Flume" 16 x 10 in. Private Collection

Erik Koeppel "Study for Fisherman in the Adirondacks" 10 x 16in. Oil on panel

I also had a good time shooting the footage for my next instructional DVD of landscape painting techniques, which should be coming out from Streamline Art Video sometime before the end of the year. Here's the current DVD:
